Lund Research School in Stem Cell Biology
The Lund Research School in Stem Cell Biology is one of eight Research Schools sponsored the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet, VR). The organization and administration of the school receives 1.15 million SEK per year for 10 years from the Research Council and we are also exploring options for additional funding in order to be able to increase the amount of courses and programs available.

The goal of the Research School is:
- Provide a possibility for all students with a relevant background to apply and compete for a position as a PhD student in Stem Cell Biology
- Facilitate the recruitment of excellent PhD students into the area of Stem Cell Biology
- To provide the PhD students and young researchers with all the necessary theoretical as well as practical tools that allows them to develop into independent scientists.
- To increase the interchange between different environments and areas of Stem Cell Biology by a close collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technical Faculty in Lund, as well as with the Research School in Stem Cell Biology at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.

STINT Institutional Grant has been awarded to the Stem Cell Center and Hemato-Linné PI, professor Stefan Karlsson.
The grant is for establishing an exchange program with Professor Toshio Suda at School of Medicine, Keio University, Japan. The granted sum is 400.000 SEK per year and the program will run for two years with possibility for a continuance of the program for an additional 2 years. The program will involve bilateral exchange at all levels and include the Hemato-Linné program, Lund Stem Cell Center and Lund Research School in Stem Cell Biology..
Clinical Hematology
The Hemato-Linné program and the Dept of Hematology, University Hospital, Lund will in collaboration during 2008 and 2009 arrange a series of mini-symposia to provide pre-clinical hematopoiesis researchers with an overview of different aspects of clinical hematology such as Chronic Myeloid Leukemia and Myeloproliferative Disease, Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia etc.
We invite Ph.D. students, post-docs, technical personnel as well as interested senior hematopoiesis researchers to attend.
